Three Alabama high school students were killed and a fourth critically injured in an early-morning crash in Cullman County.
The crash happened just after 1 a.m. on Alabama 91 near County Road 549, said Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick. The vehicle lost control in curve, hit a guardrail and then struck a tree.
Three of the victims were pronounced dead on the scene. A fourth was taken to a Huntsville hospital.
Kilpatrick is not yet releasing the identity of the victims. All victims are teen males.
Kilpatrick said speed was a factor.
The victims were students at Susan Moore High School in Blount County. Susan Moore Football posted on Facebook that a vigil will be held at 1 p.m. in the school gym.
“Please come and join us in prayer if you can. If you can’t make it, please pray where you are,’’ the post stated.
Alabama State Troopers are investigating.
